Dead Man's Bones Music Post

This post is in honor of my father who sends me mix cd's and texted me last night to say, "did you know Ryan Gosling sings my favorite song".  His favorite song I know well, because he played over and over for me, and it's good,  I really like it am happy every time my iTunes shuffle lands on it, but no I did not know Ryan Gosling had a band.  Well I decided to do a little youtube perusing and found a lot of their music online. Please don't be surprised if I re-post some of this  closer to Halloween if you watch the videos you'll see why.

Name in Stone by Dead Man's Bones, there is a bit of crowd noise in the beginning but that tapers off to a great song.

And now for my Dad's favorite song, My Bodies a Zombie For You, by Dead Man's Bones.

Three Day Weekend

I/we have a three day weekend coming up and no plans.... I feel as though something is seriously wrong with that... really nothing at all. All of my great ideas for things to do involved being outside and it is supposed to rain over half of the state of California this weekend. I have considered driving to the other part of the state, really anywhere warm but with gasoline being at $4.50/gallon I think I should have more of a plan if I am going to drive that far.

Here are a few off the top of my head ideas for things to do:
1. San Francisco Museum of Modern Art and Geary Street Gallery visit
2. Matinee-I have been trying to see Hugo before it disappears from theaters or go to see the Hunger Games
3. Visit the Best Friend in S.F.-always wonderful
4. Go for a muddy, rain filled run in Henry Cowell State Park with Penny (the four legged wonder dog)
5. Scan old family slides and send edited pictures to my mom and uncles
6. Scan negatives and edit them from my trip to India
7. Paint tiny wall in by the office-boo! I know I must but in the rain with two animals errrr. I have been delaying this project pretty much since I convinced my husband how great it would be.
8. Paint for the pure love and joy of it-not a bad option.
9. Bake, bake, bake and then drop off tasty treats with friends
10. Drive up the coast and watch the storm roll in over the ocean, with a hot cup of coffee
11. Wes Anderson Movie Marathon!
12. Go to a Hockey game, (yes I admit it I am a fan, and I vote, have a dog, listen to Belle and Sebastian, wear clogs and all other sorts of other things that would not lead you to think I was a die hard hockey fan)

I know this all sounds nice, no? Ultimately this list is not a trip to Hawaii, Morocco, Sedona, or any of the other places I have been fantasizing about, but those are day dreams and my reality is really good.

I was checking my camera settings when I took this but I think my enduring plant looks nice

it was great until it wasn't

Saturday was an wonderful, amazingly fun and beautiful rainy day. I went to Berkeley to spend time with a friend and see the Pina Bausch movie (in 3D) by Wim Wenders. The movie was inspiring and gorgeous, Berkeley is beautiful even in the rain and spending time with an old friend is priceless.
Sunday was a slow day but quite nice with a morning walk on along the harbor and beach. I spend the afternoon scanning old slides and digitally bringing back to life old family moments. The afternoon ended with a nice hike. All in all the weekend was great until it wasn't.
Sometimes it is best just to reflect on what was good.

Above is what I call my collage of unease. It is a selection of several parts of paintings I have done, in a way could call in a homage to the painter Squeak Carnwarth.

To Boot or Not To Boot

To Boot!

The Mia Bridgeport boot.

---------------------------------------------

March 16th, Follow Up

The boots arrived! I opened the box and put the right boot on, it fit perfectly, the height, heel, boot shaft circumference, all was was great. I took the next boot out and .... they had sent me two right boots--baaaah! So naturally I put that one on too just to see if it would also fit and you know what, it did, but I also realized that I would love it if the boot had an inside zipper instead of an outside zipper. I do like the outside zipper look but an inside zipper is a little classier and would have a longer shelf life.  Anyway I decided that I would still be happy with a replacement pair, even if they were not the most perfect boots in the world, but the company I bought them from were all sold out. I am to be completely refunded including shipping and get a $20 credit towards a future purchase so it's not terrible but I feel like I was so close--oh well the perfect boots are out there somewhere. If I don't find them I may just have to take up shoe design--you know my dream job.
